Configuring the WAV Export Format to Convert from MP3, WMA, OGG, or WAV Formats

Microsoft® WAV (waveform audio) format is compatible with a wide range of applications and even other platforms. In an uncompressed, PCM WAV file, there is no loss of quality due to compression, but file sizes will be large.

You might want to export to PCM WAV format if you desire to transfer the content to an Audio CD or archive it for further editing and processing before deployment.

The WAV format can also be used as a contained for other specialized compressors. Depending on your system and applications installed, the number of compressors exposed by Huelix Audio Converter can vary. Not all of the compressors shown in the list are guaranteed to work. Some of them may even cause the application to crash or misbehave. In this case you should avoid using that particular compressor.

Uncompressed PCM WAV Audio

Select this option for maximum compatibility and no loss of quality. There is no compression involved at all. This mode is especially useful if you plan to produce an Audio CD.

The WAV Settings configuration screen is shown below, with the uncompressed option selected.

There are a number of options, each with a different sampling rate, number of channels, and bits per sample.

Supported sampling rates

8 kHz, 11.025 kHz, 16 kHz, 22.050 kHz, 32 kHz, 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, and 96 kHz.

Supported number of channels

Stereo (2) and mono (1).

Supported sample sizes (bit per sample)

8 bits/sample and 16 bits per sample.

Compressed WAV Audio

Select a compressor from the drop down list. All compressors found in your system are present in this list. Some of them may not be actually available to Huelix Audio Converter and may even cause the application to malfunction. If the application crashes or misbehaves in any manner, please discontinue the use of this codec. You may also wish to report the offending compressor to our support team.

The screen shot below shows that a compressor is selected and this happens to be CCITT u-Law, a low quality, low bit rate compression scheme, often used in telephony applications.
